Dublin Airport is gearing up for an exciting summer in 2025 as United Airlines announces a significant expansion of its transatlantic services. This expansion marks the airline’s largest-ever capacity offering from Dublin, reinforcing Ireland’s growing connectivity to the United States.

Starting 29 March 2025, United Airlines will double its daily flights between Dublin and Washington D.C. during the summer season. This seasonal addition will cater to increasing passenger demand and further strengthen ties between the two capitals.

In addition to the enhanced Washington route, United will upgrade its seasonal service from Dublin to Chicago O’Hare. The introduction of the cutting-edge Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, replacing the previous Boeing 757-200, ensures passengers enjoy a superior travel experience with increased capacity and comfort.

United Airlines’ commitment to Irish travellers doesn’t stop there. The airline continues to provide year-round daily nonstop flights from Dublin to New York/Newark and seasonal daily nonstop services from Shannon to New York/Newark and Chicago O’Hare. For summer 2025, United will operate more flights and offer more seats from Dublin than any other U.S. airline.

    Boosting Connectivity and Tourism

Graeme McQueen, Head of Media Relations at daa, which operates Dublin Airport, hailed United’s expansion as a testament to the growing demand for transatlantic travel. “This is fantastic news for passengers and highlights the importance of lifting the passenger cap at Dublin Airport to accommodate rising demand,” McQueen noted.

He added, “Popular destinations like Chicago and Washington are now even more accessible, which will undoubtedly attract more U.S. tourists to Ireland. This is a win for jobs, the economy, and our hospitality sector. United is an exceptional partner, and we look forward to making these additional services a huge success in 2025.”

    More Choice for Irish Travellers

Karolien De Hertogh, Director of Sales for the UK and Ireland at United Airlines, shared the company’s enthusiasm for the expanded schedule. “This substantial increase in capacity allows us to offer Irish customers greater travel options for their U.S. getaways next summer,” she said.

Travellers will also benefit from seamless onward connections via United’s hubs in New York/Newark, Chicago O’Hare, and Washington D.C., to over 150 destinations across the Americas. This enhanced connectivity opens up exciting travel possibilities for both leisure and business passengers.

    A Bright Outlook for 2025

United Airlines’ expansion underscores the importance of strong transatlantic links in fostering tourism and economic growth. As Dublin Airport continues to serve as a key gateway between Ireland and North America, the additional flights will help meet the increasing travel demand while enhancing passenger convenience.

With state-of-the-art aircraft and expanded services, summer 2025 promises to bring Irish and American travellers closer than ever before.
