First call under Interreg North West Europe 2007-2013
The first call for proposals under the new Interreg North West Europe (NWE) is expected to be published on 17 September 2007.
A wide range of organisations throughout Ireland including public administrations; local and regional authorities; development agencies; NGOs; Higher Educational Institutes and research centres; and representative bodies may take part in cooperative NWE project partnerships built around relevant themes. The involvement of wider society and the private sector as part of project implementation is also encouraged.
A total of EUR 353 million in ERDF support is available to successful applications – making this the biggest programme of its kind. 50% of total approved project costs will be provided by the ERDF: interested organisations will be expected to provide the other half (cash, staff costs, overheads etc. can be used).
In considering involvement in NWE either now or at a later stage, applicants are recommended to submit a draft version of any emerging ideas online as soon as possible. This doesn’t commit them to anything but will register initial interest and help the programme to eventually shape a better application and locate partners. An online list of those who’ve already registered a draft idea is also available which may allow links to be formed towards a joint application.

For those with serious aspirations for the first call, an information day for UK & Ireland takes place in London on Friday 14th September. This will provide in-depth information on programme rules and offer project surgeries to fine-tune ideas. As places are limited please register online at: http://www.nweurope.org/page/document.php?id=1771 (after logging a draft idea online first). A national Interreg Event (for all 6 programmes) will also take place in Dublin on 23 October 2007.
Calls for proposals are due to be launched at 6-8 month intervals until 2010 approximately. Further details from: Ronan Gingles, Interreg NWE in Ireland, Southern & Eastern Regional Assembly, Assembly House, O'Connell St., Waterford, Ireland, tel: +353 51 860711, e-mail: rgingles@seregassembly.ie
