Fundamental rights and citizenship


The next call for proposals for transnational projects under the Fundamental Rights and Citizenship programme is expected to be launched in December. The call will fund approximately 30 transnational projects, on the following priority areas: i) Protection of the rights of the child; ii) Combating racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism; iii) Fight against Homophobia; iv) Active participation in the democratic life of the EU; v) Training and networking between legal professions and legal practitioners; vi) Data protection and privacy rights. EU co-financing will cover up to 80% of the eligible costs of the projects, and grants will vary between EUR100,000 and EUR1 million.

Drug prevention


The European Commission has published the 2009 annual work programme of the Drug Prevention and Information programme. Around EUR2 million will be available for the next call for proposals (planned to be launched at the end of 2009), financing up to 20 transnational projects in the following areas: a) exchange of best practices on drug-demand reduction; b) awareness raising activities on the health and social problems caused by drug use; c) support measures aimed at preventing drug use; d) supporting the involvement of civil society in the implementation of the EU Drug Strategy. EU grants per project can range between EUR75,000 and EUR500,000 and cover up to 80% of the project eligible cost.

Informal Learning


This call under Youth in Action (stream 4.6) is to support partnerships between the European Commission (Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency) and regions, local authorities or NGOs which develop or reinforce their long-term actions, strategies and programmes in the field of non-formal learning and youth. The call will finance projects aimed at combining a wide range of activities, including transnational youth exchanges and national youth initiatives. Funded projects will last up to two years and the maximum EU grant per project will EUR100,000.The programme of activities must start between 1 April and 1 September 2010, and may run for two years.

Interreg North West Europe


Interreg NWE
The 5th Call for Proposals, is open to traditional applications across all four programme priorities as well as ‘strategic initiatives’ in response to a series of identified major territorial challenges to and weaknesses of the programme area including. the territorial structure and demographic characteristics. A budget of €184 million currently remains to be allocated.
