Young Ambassadors Project and Youth Leadership Scheme.
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council in North West England, is seeking partners for a Young Ambassadors Project and Youth Leadership Scheme.
PROJECT 1: Young Ambassadors - to set up and exchange and skill development visit for our Young Ambassadors, involving a visit abroad to learn about leadership projects in a different country. Young Ambassadors is a scheme which is set up by Youth Sport Trust in which 4 people from across Tameside are selected each year. Each year pupils apply and are selected depending on their level or performance or their exceptional sports leadership skills. the objectives are:
- To develop and support young people as role models and Ambassadors inspired by the 2012 Games for other young people;
- To promote and advocate the ethos and values of the Olympic and Paralympics movement amongst young people;
- For Young People to champion PE & School Sport within schools and local communities and increase participation.
PROJECT 2: Youth Leadership - Community leaders and Volunteers, involving a visit abroad to learn about leadership projects in a different country. Through the running of different Community Leadership courses, a selection process then can take place for suitable candidates, who are willing to fit into the following criteria:
- To develop and support people from the community as role models and Ambassadors inspiring other people from the community;
-To promote and advocate the ethos and values of what a good community leader and volunteer should be;
-For People to champion their own leadership qualities in local communities and increase participation in their field.
