Lessons of Local Employment Initiatives
In order to capitalise on the experience of various local development initiatives (ERDF, ESF – EQUAL, and LEADER, for example), and to encourage further awareness raising of successful local employment strategies, the European Commission has published a call for proposals for Projects Contributing to Local Employment Development.
The objective of the call is to: encourage sharing of best practice and transfer in local employment development strategies and initiatives; facilitate knowledge acquisition to support implementation of Structural Funds at the local level; and involve the private sector more directly in the preparation of local employment strategies and initiatives. All projects should provide for experience transfer between old and new Member States. It is envisaged that 3 or 4 projects will be funded, in the form of conferences with background papers. Total budget: EUR 450,000, with up to 75% EU co-financing. Deadline for applications: 21 September 2007. Further details at: http://ec.europa.eu/employment_social/calls/2007/vp_2007_011/call_en.pdf
