EU Funding to Promote Renewables and Energy Efficiency
The first call for proposals under the new Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) programme is expected in April 2007.
Potential applicants are encouraged to begin their preparations now in order to meet the expected deadline for proposals in July 2007. The new IEE II programme will have three sub-programmes focusing on three priority themes: SAVE (energy efficiency), ALTENER (renewable energy) and STEER (energy and transport). Support will be provided for activities aimed at promoting market transformations, new skills (including training on the implementation of Buildings Directive) and behavioral change. Support will also be provided for new local or regional energy agencies. The budget for the new IEE programme is EUR 730 million (up from EUR 250 million in 2000-2006) and EU funding of up to 75% of eligible costs is possible (up from 50% in 2000-2006).
