Intelligent Energy Europe
The 2006 call for proposals under the Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) programme was published on May 29.
Interested parties are now invited to apply for financial support for EU projects and one-off events in the area of renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as for the establishment of local/regional energy agencies.
Priorities for 2006 include: multiplying successes in boosting the energy performance of buildings; retrofitting of social housing; innovative approaches to energy efficiency in industry; energy efficient equipment and product; electricity from renewable energy sources; heat from renewable energy sources; small scale renewable energy sources applications; alternative vehicle propulsion; policy measures for an efficient use of energy in transport; and strengthening the knowledge of local management agencies in the transport field.
Priority horizontal actions include: promoting sustainable energy communities, through promoting “energy citizenship” and mobilising local energy actors and local community planning for the efficient use of renewable energy; and promoting the concept of thinking globally, acting locally.
The total budget for this call is EUR48.1 million, of which about EUR4 million will be available for new local and regional energy management agencies and about EUR0.9 million for events. Co-financing of up 50% will be available. It is expected that there will be around 100 grants for projects (average of EUR0.43 million each), about 20 new energy management agencies and about 25 grants for events. The deadline for proposals is 31 October 2006. There will be a special IEE information event in Ireland on 7-8 June.
